About

The Heart Behind Grateful Gather Farm

Grateful Gather Farm began as a dream my husband and I shared early in our marriage — a vision of having a piece of land where life could slow down, where connection felt natural, and where our family could grow closer to nature. We always imagined raising our children with clean air, whole foods, and the simple joy of being outside together. That dream stayed with us through the years, quietly shaping our conversations about the future.

When the world slowed down during the Covid years, that dream took on new meaning. It reminded us how important it is for families to have a place where they can breathe, gather, and reconnect away from the noise of everyday life. We wanted a place our family could grow into, learn from, and return to again and again.

We eventually found a property that felt right — peacefully tucked between Houston, San Antonio, and Austin. It gave us the space to nurture what we imagined, connect more deeply with nature, and build something meaningful as a family.

From the beginning, everything we created on the farm had intention behind it. We explored permaculture principles, mapped out how the land could support trees, animals, and future growth, restored the well, and built our farmhouse and garage. None of it happened overnight. We learned as we went — through hard work, mistakes, and many “let’s figure this out” moments that became family memories.

Our first animals were four tiny chicks that quickly grew into eight as we fell in love with caring for them. We converted a little playhouse into a coop, then later built a larger one with space for a full flock and a protected outdoor run. Watching our chickens soak up the sun or scratch around happily became one of our favorite parts of being here. And when we’re at the farm in the evenings, we let them roam freely — it’s a simple joy that grounds us every time.

As the land took shape, we felt called to share it. Opening our Airbnb allowed other families to experience the peace we found here — from gathering fresh eggs to soaking in quiet nights under wide Texas stars. Hosting guests has become one of the most rewarding parts of our story.

More recently, we welcomed heritage Berkshire pigs to the farm — a new adventure full of learning. Raising them on pasture, feeding them locally sourced organic feed, and caring for them with intention has been a beautiful challenge. There have been plenty of surprises and lessons, but each one has helped us grow as a family and as farmers.

Through every chapter, the heart of Grateful Gather Farm remains steady. This place is built on love, hard work, and the belief that simple living brings meaningful connection. It’s a space where our family learns, grows, and reconnects — and we’re grateful to share a piece of it with you.
